Enjoying your content very much Brian. Will continue to subscribe to receive future notes! As you highlighted in your article, this part really stuck out: “Middle powers are not becoming more visible because they are more powerful. They are becoming more visible because they are more exposed.” I think through your writing and others as well, Carney is becoming more exposed as the person that is VERY ill equipped to deal with the US administration and any negotiations.
Congratulations, Brian! Not surprised your site has grown. As for subscribing, that's what people always used to do, right?
About Carney's "middle powers" delusion, it makes sense if, as I'm told, he wants to align Canada more with Europe. That means that we all need to become much more comfortable with delusions, irrelevance, and failure.
Canada is not in Europe and it is delusional to think that that fact does not matter. If the Americans just decide to politely ignore our interests as a result, we will be irrelevant in North America, where we are in fact located.
As for failure, everywhere I look, I see failure marketed as success. If it is okay with the majority who keep this system in place, I guess I had better get used to it.
The Davos speech in my opinion was similar to a child having a tantrum. Carney whimpering about another leader using financial might to protect it's industries all the while Carney lost his support for GFANZ and is watching his green grift crumble.
Thanks Brian. I keep wondering if I am wrong because so many Canadians are buying into this. I never understand why they don’t worry about our kids future and the massive debt they are leaving them. I have come to the conclusion that they don’t care. Danielle was supposed to visit our brewery on Saturday but her security team decided it was too unsafe because of the proximity to the street. Very sad.
I very much enjoying your columns and insights. I follow Sam Cooper and Chris George. Between the three of you (plus a few other offshoots 😉) I am more informed and have the opportunity to voice my opinion , on occasion.
Thank you Brian. Keep the excellent journalism coming. 👌🙏
Who was it who said “ dadada everywhere!” Kevin Frankish I do believe.
This is today’s Brian Lilley. I’m impressed like crazy that you learned to code. Now I think you should look at some of the podcasters out there- Benny Johnson comes to mind - he has a staff of TWENTY!! - I’m thinking Lilley dot com should consider research staff
It’s crazy between AI, you tube Facebook and instagram how much source information is available.
In 1979 I spent a year touring Europe and North America on a federally funded research project for a training manual on Police driver training. I took a behavioural scientist with me; I had interpol clearance and it was remarkable what I was able to find out and experience. So much information. And translations (!). So much quantifiable information was extant in German.
AI would have made that a few days work ?
Imagine what a boon it is for you Brian to have access to so much information !
But then you have to distill it all , and that’s where I personally find great value; your political analysis.
And the other 16,499 subscribers I’m sure agree on this!
The excellent journalism is comparable to that of Sam Cooper and Terry Glavin. So, it was time for me to pay up and support Mr. Lilley.
We have done it to ourselves, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves.
Congratulations on the anniversary and best wishes moving forward.

Donald Ashman: Absolutely. Elections have consequences.
