A conversation with Pierre Poilievre, a terror bust and politics in the classroom...
Why was the terror suspect out on bail on top of probation.
I had a sit down interview with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Thursday afternoon. He was a bit late getting there, then we went long - about a 35 minute interview, and by the time everything was wrapped, there was no time for a newsletter yesterday.

We had a really good chat starting off with the current political intrigue in Ottawa, the floor crossings and the potential of a Mark Carney majority. Most of the interview was spent talking about the issues that Canadians say matter to them - the cost of living, crime, immigration etc.
I wrote a bit about that interview yesterday in my Sun column which also touched on the new ad the Conservatives have released and will be pushing hard over the Christmas holidays.
My full interview will be released early Sunday morning along with a new column. I’ll be sure to send it out so you can enjoy it with a morning coffee.
A terror bust in Canada…
I’m not shocked at arrests like this, I’m shocked there aren’t more of them.
This one though is a little weirder.
My Sun colleague Bryan Passifiume is writing about this story which was uncovered after three men attempted to kidnap women on two separate occasions in Toronto and Mississauga this past summer. Once the men were identified and search warrants were executed on their residences, police found guns and high capacity magazines - all illegal.
Police believe the three men arrested were targeting women and specifically the Jewish community.
Then came the connection to terror via 26 year-old Waleed Khan.
Khan is also accused of providing funding to a terror group — identified by the RCMP as ISIS, participating in a terrorist group by providing property meant to be used in an terror attack, making himself available to commit terrorist acts outside of Canada, and conspiracy to commit murder at the direction of a terrorist group.
Bryan’s story has more information, but it is somewhat limited by a publication ban.
Here is the joint video released by Toronto and Peel Police in conjunction with the RCMP.
Here’s the crazy part about Waleed Khan, he was out on bail on the kidnapping charges when he was recently arrested and was on probation and under a gun ban when he was arrested for the kidnapping.
That’s not on the police, that’s on our horrible justice system operating under crazy laws brought in by the Liberals.
For the record, here’s the full list of charges Khan is facing.
two counts of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Possession of a Weapon While Prohibited
Assault with a Weapon
two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000
Fail to Comply with Probation
Careless Use of Firearm
two counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
two counts of Firearm: Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession
two counts of Weapon: Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession
Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm: with Ammunition
Possession of an Automobile Master Key
Carrying Concealed Weapon
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

Insanity in the classroom…
Just when you think you’ve seen it all for craziness in the school system, the folks at the Toronto District School Board show up and say hold my beer. That’s what happened recently at what is described as a “winter concert” where kids held up placards all about land being stolen.
We need to get the radical politics out of the classroom. This is a clear example of a teacher inserting their personal politics into the curriculum.
The Ford government is already taking action on the TDSB - they fired the director of education, a real activist just last week and suspended the board and installed a supervisor several months ago. That is all good, but clearly there is more work to do.
Education Minister Paul Calandra was on Newstalk 1010 on Friday talking to Deb Hutton about what went down and why he disagrees with it.

Can't wait to hear that interview! Keep it up, Brian!
Most corrupt govt EVER!!!!
